About Us

Northwest Indiana Cancer Kids (N.I.C.K.) is a 501c3 charity that was founded by a pediatric cancer family who live right here in the area. Our families are all local and available to talk with you. We know what you are going through, because we've been there, too. When our children were in treatment, we found that nothing was as comforting or as hopeful as talking to other people who knew our challenges. We believe the same should be available to ALL families facing pediatric cancer.

Please take time to explore this site, and get in touch with us. No matter where you are in your journey with pediatric cancer, we'd love to talk with you and provide whatever support we can.

We are also a volunteer-run organization. If you're a friend, family member, or anyone else who wants to make a difference, please consider giving your time to host or help with one of our events.

Remember- there is hope for ALL children with pediatric cancer. To begin receiving support from NICK, please give you child’s  social worker or doctor permission to send an email (with you copied in) to: donna@nwicancerkids.org and include the following information:

  • Mother’s Name & Address
  • Father’s Name & Address (if different than Mother's)
  • Your phone number
  • Your child’s name
  • The type of cancer
  • The date of diagnosis

Charities We Support

Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation provides support worldwide for families of children with neuroblastoma, a solid tumor cancer affecting primarily young children. Neuroblastoma is one of the least-funded pediatric cancers, and also where our own journey began. Make a donation.

Alex's Lemonade Stand is a foundation that provides funding to research grants, both for doctors and nurses, to provide new treatment options as well as improved quality of life for patients battling pediatric cancer. Alex's also helps provide families with lodging and travel expenses during treatment. Make a donation.

St. Baldrick's
is a foundation that funds grants to childhood cancer research initiatives all over the world. These grants find new cures and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. St. Baldrick's funds more grants than any other organization besides the U.S. Government. Make a donation.
